Avannaa has been awarded a licence to explore for minerals at Tartunaq (licence nr. 2007/52). The licence is issued by the Government of Greenland through its licencing authority, the Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum. The licence area covers 618 square kilometers and is distributed in 5 subareas located in the Disko Bay region. The licence is valid for 5 years and gives Avannaa exclusive rights to explore for minerals but excludes hydrocarbons and radioactive materials. The Tartunaq licence will be used by Avannaa to progress its exploration for sediment hosted diamonds as described elsewhere on this site.
