Nick received his batchelors in geology from the University of Edinburgh in 1982 and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1985 and 1989. He has travelled extensively in Greenland since 1982 in connection with both research and commercial exploration projects. During the early 1990’s he was a Research Fellow at the Geological Museum in Copenhagen and subsequently worked as an independent consultant managing projects for companies conducting grass-roots exploration in Greenland. He managed a number of diamond exploration projects in Greenland during the intense period of activity that occurred in the late 1990’s and has also worked on magmatic hosted Au-PGE and Ni-PGE targets throughout the country. Nick is a founder of Avannaa and as CEO is reponsible for the day to day management of the company, commercial matters and he has special responsibility for the Karrat rare earth element discovery.
